Recycled Asphalt

Recycled Asphalt is known as recycled asphalt pavement or RAP. To put it simply, Recycled Asphalt is old asphalt that is ground into an aggregate size. When compressed, the material is able to harden and bind together better.

You may ask yourself, “Why should I use Recycled Asphalt?” Here are some of the benefits:

1. Recycled Asphalt is just as good as the original. Recycling of the asphalt does not make it lose its quality. Some would argue that RAP is better than the original pavement as it is often more durable and strong. RAP is also renewable which is something traditional asphalt is not.

2. It will save you money! It is estimated that American taxpayers will save as much as $1.8 billion per year just from recycling asphalt. Construction costs are lower because it is a cheaper product to produce and to purchase.

3. RAP is recycled along with other recyclables including asphalt roofing shingles and glass. This lowers the amount of materials that wind up in landfills. This benefits you because each added material brings about a new property to your asphalt mixture.

4. Stone, sand and gravel, which are the aggregates of asphalt, are a limited resource. By recycling, we are preserving these resources, which is essential to keeping roads safe and comfortable in the future.

Clemmons Asphalt Maintenance LLC regards old asphalt as an advantage, not as waste. There are many advantages to asphalt recycling, both for the environment, and for you.
